Bright and colorful wedding palette honors groom’s Mexican heritage

We absolutely love when a couple honors their heritage and family traditions, and the colorful Florida wedding of Jennifer Hobson and Marco Herrera included details that celebrated both Marco’s Mexican heritage and Jenn’s Florida native status. These lovebirds met when they were only 16 years old at a conference in Washington DC, and after 12 years of a long distance romance, Marco surprised Jenn with a trip to DC where he took her back to the place where they met for a surprise proposal. This sweet couple planned a casual and relaxed event in which the creative bride added a lot of DIY touches to make their event more personal. Florals were created by the mother of the bride, family members and friends who styled the arrangements in repurposed glass vases that Jenn thrifted and painted bright colors. She selected flowers in bright, colorful hues to reflect the tropical Palma Sola Botanical Park venue. The adorable seating chart, the pinata guest book and table numbers were all DIY as were the games Jenn created for the children to play with at the reception. The couple also decided to skip the wedding cake opting instead for cupcakes that the bride made herself in a variety of flavors, Mango Coconut, Mexican Chocolate, Key Lime, and Churro, because she wanted to ensure that there was a flavor of cake that everyone would enjoy.
