Want to make a statement without upstaging your partner on your day? Grooms everywhere are taking the more fashion-forward route and opting for a second look. Brides have been on board with this trend for years, but more and more grooms are jumping on board…and we are here for it. We reached out to Tom Steadman, owner of Tuxedo Junction in Jackson, Mississippi, for some tips on how you can get in on this latest trend in groomswear.

Reception jackets are a great, not to mention fun, way to get a little fancier too. Exchange your solid color jacket for an exciting print. “We are seeing a trend of more grooms going for something bold as a reception look,” Tom tells us.

If you’re thinking of swapping your fancy tuxedo for something less formal during your reception, we say go for it. This gives you the chance to swap into something a bit more relaxed so you can dance the night (or day) away worry-free. “More and more grooms are opting for a classically formal tux during their ceremony, but also want something more comfortable and less formal for the reception,” Tom tells us.

Make sure to coordinate your second look with your partner. As with ceremony looks, light colors like beige or tan are generally reserved for daytime ceremonies, while darker looks like navy or black work best at night. Finally, don’t forget the fit is just as important as the ceremony look. Taller guys will always look great in a slim fit suit, and according to Tom, “If you want to appear slimmer, try something more fitted in the waist. Men looking to add bulk might opt for something double-breasted.”
