Christmas Eve Military Homecoming in Norfolk

We celebrate love at I Do Y’all. Our posts usually focus on trends, photography and other wedding-related information, inspiration. However, when Laura Sue Brod Photography submitted this Christmas Eve military homecoming, we decided to make an exception and shift from unions to reunions! Here’s what she had to say about this emotional occasion:

On Christmas Eve 2016, the USS Wasp returned home from its long deployment.  As a photographer in a military-centric town, I was contacted by Danielle to photograph her husband’s return from deployment.  When we found out that the ship would return on Christmas Eve, she expressed concern, as many people wouldn’t want to work on a holiday.  I, on the other hand, was thrilled to be able to cover such a great event on such a great day!

We stood out in the freezing rain for hours, taking in all of the excitement and hustle & bustle as the ship approached.  Something that made this day even MORE special: Danielle won the “first kiss”, which allowed her to be one of the very first people to greet their loved one!!  Capturing this moment for Danielle and her husband was truly an honor.

The USS Wasp is a multipurpose amphibious assault ship built by Ingalls Shipbuilding division of Litton in Pascagoula, Mississippi.
