Dear The Bridal Guru,
My sweet fiancée treats me like a Princess. Because of this, he wants me to look like Cinderella walking down the aisle. He keeps talking about me wearing a full ball gown with a tiara. I don’t mind the tiara, but I’m 5’2″, petite and small, size 2. I have tried on ball gowns and they swallow me. You can’t see me for the gown. Ball gowns are too big for me. And I don’t like them and I’m not comfortable wearing a ball gown. I have found a beautiful romantic bridal gown that I love. I feel like a Princess in this gown. It’s my wedding dress. I don’t want to disappoint him but I can’t wear a ball gown for my wedding.
What’s a Bride to Do?
Dear What’s a Bride to Do,
My question to you is who is wearing the gown, you or your fiancée? If you have found a gown that you love, you feel good wearing, and you are confident in this gown, then, by all means, buy it. When you walk down that aisle wearing that gown confidently and proudly, he’s going to see his Princess. I would talk to him before the wedding and tell him how much you adore how he treats you. Communication is so important in a marriage. And it starts now. You must tell him how you really feel about this gown. You must tell him how you feel about him. Tell him the ball gown on your petite frame is too much and you will not look good wearing that type of gown nor did you feel good in the gown. Tell your Prince you found a gown appropriate for his Princess. And you will always be his Princess no matter what you wear.
Best Wishes,
The Bridal Guru
