Create a beautiful Christmas wedding with traditional holiday decor

A Christmas wedding can be romantic and glamorous as there are so many stunning holiday styles to lean into for your decor. Houston couple, Brooke and Chris Gilliam, had a beautiful Christmas wedding last year at Iron Manor.  The couple chose a palette of deep green and red combining wintery greenery with rich red roses, gold accents, and twinkling Christmas trees for a warm, romantic Christmas wedding.

Choosing to have your wedding around the holidays gives you an opportunity to take advantage of your church or venue’s Christmas decorations as many will have already draped their doors and interior spaces with warm lights, pine garlands, and holiday florals. By starting with these simple wintery items, couples can then add their own personal touches with additional decor and florals in palettes and styles they love.

Christmas weddings do not have to embrace a traditional red and green palette, nor do they need to create visions of sugarplums, candy canes, or vibrant poinsettias. I Do Y’all has featured some amazing holiday weddings – each taking an element from Christmas decor and creating its own, unique design. While you look through Chris and Brooke’s beautiful wedding photos, make sure to click through the links to see lots of different holiday wedding ideas to help you create the Christmas wedding of your dreams.

Styled shoots with Christmas details

We have some amazing holiday-themed styled shoots with tons of steal-worthy ideas for your Christmas wedding as well. The Twelve Days of Christmas inspired this old-world styled shoot with incredible details. Love the outdoors? This woodsy wedding shoot will warm your heart with its rustic elegance. Can Christmas be boho? You bet it can. We love the muted shades of burgundy and sparkly pink in this boho holiday shoot, and this Georgia shoot added sparkly ornaments to florals and outdoor vignettes of velvet seating and a vintage camper for that vintage, boho vibe.

Destination Christmas

Christmas weddings do not limit couples to a hometown event. Christmas destination weddings can be so special. While the temptation may be to run away from the cold to somewhere tropical for your holiday elopement, you might consider finding a location that embraces the holiday. This styled shoot at Canton, Mississippi’s Christmas Festival took advantage of the town’s elaborate decor and lighting of the charming town square to create a festive elopement in the square’s gazebo.
