Planning in a Pandemic with The Venue at Southern Oaks

Did anyone see 2020 coming? I mean, this year came in swinging and has not let up since. For those couples out there planning for a 2020 wedding, we see you! We see your struggles and frustration, trust us! However, one thing this year has taught us is that love and joy are resilient. You may have had to postpone or tweak your plan a little, but at the end of the day the marriage is still the most important part. We talked with the pros over at The Venue at Southern Oaks to shed some light on making wedding plans work during a pandemic and how it’s affected their events so far. Read below!

How has your previously scheduled weddings been impacted by COVID-19?

“We’ve worked with every bride to reschedule their wedding if COVID-19 has impacted it. Although we can’t always provide the original desired date due to availability, we do our best to ensure each couple is satisfied with their new date!”

Are weddings at your venue possible without the “empty” feeling for a smaller crowd or guests being too close together?

“At half capacity, which is 100 people total, we are thankful for it still feeling normal. At full capacity, our space is perfect for 200 and under, and our average wedding size is 100 to 150 guests. So, this change in capacity doesn’t make things feel too out of the ordinary. With the way our indoor space is set up, a smaller guest count doesn’t feel“empty” at all! Social distancing is made easier with our large outdoor patio areas where we encourage our couples to set up tables and promote mingling outdoors!”

Any tips on making the most of an already booked wedding date?

“To all of the brides out there who are working to make the most out of their already booked date, don’t lose sight of how special this day will be regardless of the changes and difficult circumstances. At its core, your wedding is about celebrating love and a new life together – and that is something truly special! Trust in your vendors, take on one thing at a time, and don’t be afraid of flexibility – you never know what positives can come from a little change! Your vendors are there to support you and work with you to make your day extra special.”

Amidst all the uncertainties, one constant is the love we feel so blessed to continue to celebrate.”
