Swift-Coles Historic Home hosts sweet, southern weddings

If you’re looking for a venue with southern charm, look no further than the Swift-Coles Historic Home in Bon Secour, Alabama. Sitting on the banks of the Bon Secour River, the Swift-Coles Historic Home is surround by beautiful woodlands for a private, secluded feel, but the home is only minutes away from the gorgeous white sand beaches and hustle and bustle of Gulf Shores and the Alabama Gulf Coast. The home is on the National Register of Historic Homes and boasts 6,000 square feet of perfectly restored beauty which is filled with period antiques and has 3,000 square feet of covered porches.

Weddings at the Swift-Coles Historic Home are primarily Saturday, outdoor affairs with ceremonies taking place under the huge trees dripping with Spanish moss, under a tent on the lawn, or on one of the numerous covered porches. The home does offer indoor bride and groom’s suites and full kitchen for your catering company. Many couples opt to use a small sitting room for a cake room to preserve their confections from the heat and humidity we encounter in the deep south. Tables and chairs are provided by the venue which can seat 200 comfortably on the front lawn and up to 70 on the porch.

The home has beautiful settings, both indoor and outdoor, for formal portraits and hosts bridal showers, engagement parties, and bridesmaids’ luncheons as well.  Couples who choose to marry at the Swift-Coles Historic Home have access to the venue for the weekend, so Friday can be utilized for set-up and decor can be removed on the following day so no one has to rush around trying to break down the venue following your event. Everyone can simply relax and enjoy your day.
