Dear The Bridal Guru,
My grandmother practically raised me. She is my best friend. Of course, I want her at my wedding. But, I want her more involved than the traditional seating of the grandmothers. I want her by my side as I take my vows. Can a grandmother be a matron of honor?
Loving Granddaughter
Dear Loving Granddaughter,
Now a days anything goes in a wedding. I have been to a wedding where the mother was the Matron of Honor. For you to have such strong feelings for your grandmother and this wonderful relationship with her, I can think of nothing else. Yes, it is ok for you to have your grandmother as your Matron of Honor. She should be honored for this prestigious role. And you should be honored to have her standing by your side and supporting you as you say your “I Do’s”. By all means ask your grandmother to play this important supportive role in your life. It sounds like she already has in so many ways!
