….taking the right step!

So you’ve picked your perfect dress, and now all you need is something for your tootsies? Having trouble deciding what to wear? These ideas will have you in a great pair of shoes that make a personal statement and look great.

If money is no object, then certainly go to your favorite upscale retailer and purchase the perfect pair of shoes to grace your feet on your wedding day. For those who need to be mindful of a budget, there are many ways to get walking in the right direction.

Gone are the days of white or ivory shoes with wedding dresses; color is very popular with bridal shoes! Not only color, but different additions to shoes like shoe clips or heel rings, which have stepped onto the scene. Customize your shoes by adding feathers, sequins, or stones to make your feet sparkle.

Some brides don’t even want to wear shoes; and why not, it’s your wedding, right? Why not snag some beautiful foot jewels and walk on the sand! Foot jewels typically resemble an anklet that goes in-between your toes. These are best suited for a beach wedding, but if you choose to go barefoot at your reception, its all you!

You can have custom heels made, but they come at a price. You can also find custom shoes online; try special artisan marketplaces, such as Etsy. Know what type of shoe you want and be very specific when it comes to buying shoes online. Have your heels hand painted, with whatever artwork you like, and consider your feet a work of art on your wedding day.

Brides are looking at printed shoes, too, with the colors matching the wedding. If you find a print that you absolutely love, why not use that as your wedding color palette? If you don’t want printed shoes, have your bridesmaids wear them. They will add a pop of color to their look and make for a great photo op!

If heels aren’t your thing, consider an unconventional type of shoe, like a riding boot, or cowboy boot. Cowboy boots are popular and make a great statement under your wedding gown. You can special order them according to your specifications, and they can be made in just about any color. Some brides prefer to wear Converse sneakers under their wedding gowns, while allowing the groomsmen to do the same.  This is extremely unconventional, but is very popular.

You can also incorporate a great flat for your wedding shoes, which are so much more comfortable. This way, you won’t have blisters and can use them after the wedding. You could also do a cute little sandal with your wedding gown and then again with your sarong while honeymooning in the Caribbean.

Lastly, go shoe shopping at the end of the day so that your feet are slightly swollen; this will ensure proper sizing. Choosing your shoes should not be stressful; it should be fun to find the perfect pair for your wedding day. Have fun, and try on as many as you can; you’ll know the right pair when you see it.
