Blooming Romance: Styled Shoot at The Mill

Originally built in 1902 as a working cotton mill, The Mill Conference Center at Mississippi State University in Starkville is a stunning facility with expansive halls, reclaimed wood floors, white brick walls and a 10,000-square-foot ball room capable of seating 1,000. The Mill is truly a multi-dimensional venue. There is even a speakeasy in the basement for entertaining.

The Mill’s industrial architecture and modernized interior made the perfect backdrop for a styled bridal shoot for Premier Wedding Mississippi photographed by Sara Gatlin Photo.

Premier Wedding wanted to accentuate the natural light and warm, glowing wood of the venue by leaning away from the expected industrial-rustic styling and pairing soft pastels with draping florals to create a vintage garden feel.

The boho-inspired wedding gowns were provided by It’s A Date in Starkville and The Bride & Groom in Columbus. Both boutiques provided color-coordinated nonidentical bridesmaid dresses in soft pastel colors to compliment the casual theme.

“Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being “in love” which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. [Those that truly love have] roots that grow towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossoms have fallen from their branches they find that they were one tree and not two.” – Louis de Bernières (Captain Corelli’s Mandolin)

Angie’s Catering and Floral Design provided the gold chavari chairs, rental furnishings, the beautiful bouquets and the florals accenting the copper pipe backdrop.
