Lydia Noble, CEO/Creative Director and Lead Planner with Noble Events, LLC

Lydia Noble of Noble Events, LLC was led straight into the world of weddings after receiving her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre and Opera. She had the opportunity to teach/perform, but found herself working in a management position at a hospital while dabbling in a job as a planner in New York. After moving back to the Deep South to Alabama in 2004, she began her career as a self proclaimed wedding planner. Now, a “Certified Wedding Planner” through the Bridal Society of America, Lydia lives for the wonderful world of weddings.

How long have you been in business and what is your role in your company?

I have been planning weddings since 2004 and my role is CEO, Creative Director, and Lead Planner.

Tell us about you and your company: what you do, special services…

Noble Events, LLC is focused on catering to each individual at the event.  We are branded by hospitality.  I tell clients all the time that almost anyone can come up with a schedule or even style an event.  Where the true magic happens, is on the day of the event.  We bring a sense of peace to our brides and families.  We strive to give the Mother of the Bride one job, to be with her daughter.  Not to be worried about if the cake implodes, or the band is late, but instead to hold her little girls hand in the hours before she changes her life.  We also hope to cater to all bridal party members who have been invited to celebrate with the couple on wedding day.  It is truly our pleasure to serve the not just the client but also their family and friends.

What advice would you like to offer a bride-to-be after their engagement?

Come have a complimentary consultation with Noble Events.  Also, remember that this is your wedding and you only get one shot to make this right (there are no do-overs)….so have the wedding that completely represents your style and tastes. Far too often, we meet with clients who are making decisions based on what their families want them to do…there are no longer rules with weddings….so if you want to cartwheel down the aisle…Please do so.

In what areas can you help a bride-to-be and her finance?

We can help in all areas.  From acting as your best scapegoat with an opinionated Mother in Law, to driving you from vendor to vendor on your planning days, we are here for you.

What do you like most about what you do?

I LOVE that I am forever a part of a family’s history.  A wedding is the mark of a brand new family and I get to be there supporting and cheering on the new generation.  I hope that when my clients have become old wrinkly grandparents that they will still talk about the wedding planner who made their day perfect.

What are the current trends in wedding ceremonies and receptions?

Neutral Everything, Cross back chairs, hiring artists to paint the reception, silly departures

What advice would you like to offer clients to help them plan a successful indoor or outdoor wedding/reception?

Hire a Planner or Coordinator.  Let the professionals do their jobs.  You would never let your Aunt Sue and her friends deliver a baby so don’t let her handle the biggest day of your life.

What are areas that sometimes get accidentally neglected in the wedding planning process that you would like to encourage a bride to remember to put some focus towards?

Make sure you order lunch for the bridal party on wedding day, Make sure you know where/when to get your marriage license, order enough corsages/bouts so that no one feels left out (i.e.-aunts), give your hairdresser/make-up artist an extra 45 minutes just in case, take care of your parents on the day of…they will be exhausted.

Out of all the weddings that you have planned, can you share with us some of your favorite elements at various weddings? (Maybe creative cake or a wedding send off or neat guest books?)

We have the most creative brides on the planet…my favorite departures have been done in an 18 wheeler, segways, hot-air balloon, and alligator air boat.  We have had sign in stations where guests were asked to sign oars, Adirondack chairs, custom paintings, and even a tire. We adore lighting at any event and can just tell you to follow our Instagram posts to see how our clients are using different lighting to create an ambiance of their very own.

How far in advance do you need for a bride to schedule your services? What is the best way to reach you?

It all depends on what the bride is in need of.  We have had brides contact us two years before the wedding and some who we have met with one month prior to the day.  We are happy to work with a bride at any stage of her planning process.  The best way to reach either our Mobile or New Orleans office is to visit www.LydiaNobleEvents.com

What do you see on the horizon for up and coming trends in weddings for this fall/winter 2016 and spring/summer 2017?

I am excited to report that we anticipate a LOT of color.  Brides have been using neutrals for a while now and although it is beautiful and classic, we (vendors) are getting a little tired of it.  I am thrilled to see that our 2017 girls are coming into the office with bright color swatches. We are also noticing that brides are starting to scale back their guest lists.  This is great as the fewer guests you have joining you means the higher quality personal touches you can add.  We are over the moon about the changes we see coming to the industry.

Do you have any additional information or advice that you would like to add?

Hire a planner.  Hire a planner.  Hire a planner.  If you can’t afford a professional planner/coordinator, ask if you can schedule an appointment to at least find out the best vendors to reach out too.  All vendors want you to have a perfect day but not all can provide that for you.
