I DO Y'ALL

Fall Weddings and the SEC

We are in the heart of Fall and Fall weddings, which I love.  I love the mixture of colors just like you’d see in a scenic drive in Vermont or the mountains of Arkansas or Colorad with changing leaves.  I love the vibrant colors and bring outdoors inside. I love how you can mix in with the arrangements, gourds and pumpkins and other colorful speciments of nature.

Naturally, fall weddings have to be timed around the football season, especially if you have a favorite team in the SEC, Southeastern Conference.  Did I tell you I love football, too, especially college football, especially SEC football?  If you dare have a wedding the day of a game, it better be an away game for the team.  And you better have televisions at the reception, should the reception occur during the game, for the guys to watch the game.  You’ll probably have just as many gals watching, too.

It’s not unusual to have the groom’s cake representing something from his Alma Mater.  It’s not unusual to have favors or decorations from the couples’ university or universities if they did not attend the same school.  Something new:  the mascot appears at the wedding to surprise everyone.

Now, I’m an Arkansas girl and I love my Hogs.  How exciting would it be for Big Red to appear at wedding?!  And I have been at many weddings in Arkansas when everyone calls the Hogs…woo pig sooiee!  In Mississippi, where I live now, it’s not unheard of to hear the Hotty Toddy for the Ole Miss fans.

Regardless, Fall weddings are always fun and festive taking us into the Holiday season!  If you are getting married in the fall, I’d like to hear about your wedding:  colors, design, surprises.  And, if you recently were married in the fall, send us a picture: lynda@bridems.com.

I can’t wait to hear from y’all and see some of your fabulous weddings!!!  Gotta go and get ready.  Saturday is game day!!!
