With our Coast show just around the corner, Sunday, July 15, here are the first six of my top
twelve tips when attending a bridal show.
- Bring a notebook and a pen. The Premier Bridal Show is a great resource of “Information”. The notebook allows you to write in your goals and details about your favorite wedding vendors that you meet. Bring a camera and make sure you take pictures of what you find. That way you don’t have to try and explain in later.
- If you’ve already selected your wedding colors/bridesmaids’ dresses, ask you for swatches from the material and bring them with you to The Premier Bridal Show. Many wedding vendors, (bakers, florists, wedding cake, invitations…) will use your colors to make appropriate suggestions for your wedding.
- WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES. You will stroll many aisles as you seek out the ideas, people, products and services you’ll soon need.
- PRINT NEATLY! When you register at the door or for prize drawings at the booths, make sure all your information is legible & complete. You just may walk away from the show with a very useful prize or gift for your wedding day.
- Bridal shows are for brides, family and friends. Many do not allow strollers for safety reasons for both the children and others in attendance. Find out ahead of time. Preferably, leave the children with a friend or get a babysitter. That way you can truly enjoy the show and not worry about your child wandering off.
- Write down a list of questions to ask wedding vendors “before” going to the bridal show; then when you’re at the show, ask the questions. Don’t be shy…taste cake, smell flowers, load up on brochures, enter contests and leave your name with everyone. Be sure to ask how many weddings they had last month, last year, for their career. Do they work part time or full time? How many weddings do they do in one day? In one weekend?
