Weekly Wedding Tips: Don’t Break the Bank When Buying Your Gown

Every bride wants to get a great value on the wedding gown of her dreams. To successfully find a wedding gown that won’t break the bank, your search will entail planning, patience and flexibility. Take our tips on how to save money on your wedding gown without sacrificing your style.

Start early. The earlier you start the bridal gown search, the more you will be able to take advantage of sample sales, end-of-season sales and other special promotions.

Keep it simple. Usually, the more embellishments there are, the higher the price tag. Keep the beading, lacework, etc. to a minimum, and stick with more simple, elegant, streamlined styles.

No big names. The majority of brides do not have the budget for a designer gown! Stay away from the big names in bridal, and search out the very talented, lesser well-known designers.

Minimize the alterations. Select a dress that doesn’t need major, custom alterations, and you’ve just saved yourself hundreds of dollars.

Think outside of the box. Choose a beautiful, elegant, floor length bridesmaid gown in white or ivory for your wedding gown.

Mother knows best. If it’s available and will fit, consider wearing your mother’s wedding gown. It will most likely need some cleaning and alterations, but you’ll still save oodles of money. And, your mom will be thrilled.
